Would I hire myself based on how I have shown up in the past 30 days?
Personal growth and energy management are critical aspects of a CEO’s role, often overlooked in formal Board assessments. Perceptive CEOs understand that maintaining their energy, balancing personal and professional priorities, and being cognisant of their wellbeing are key drivers of their success.
This can be done by implementing a personal self-check into their regular review process. Schedule a regular cadence for monthly self-reflection based on the following prompts as a guide:
1. Do I own my outcomes, or do I subtly blame my circumstances or others?
2. Do my daily habits match the level of ambition I claim to have?
3. Am I accumulating long term value or actually quietly consuming it?
4. What conversation am I avoiding that would change everything?
5. Do I control my attention or is it my phone?
6. If I interviewed myself for my own job… would I hire me?
7. At night, am I proud of how I showed up today?
